On 8th June in Brussels the STOA Committee of the European Parliament is organising an event that will feature some of the Sparks speakers.
Have you been following the route of our exhibition Beyond the lab but didn't manage to visit it? If you are based in Brussels, this is your chance to meet two of our citizen scientists featured in the exhibition:
Sara Riggare was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2003. To stay fit and healthy, she has become an expert in her disease and shares her experiences with other patients online. She uses a range of wearable technologies to record her condition, track symptoms and customise her treatments. She also shares her experiences with other patients online and encourages them to take control of their own healthcare.
Pedro Oliveira, one of the founders of Patient Innovation, an organisation that works to share home-grown medical solutions with a worldwide audience. Up to now, they have gathered more than 600 medically reviewed innovations on their website. They also support patients and carers to launch businesses based on their ideas.
Both Sara and Pedro will talk about patient’s participation in health innovation, promotion and prevention.
