Get inspired by Mary Flanagan: one of our Keynote Speakers at Ecsite 2025!

Flanagan is an award-winning artist, writer and scholar. Her transdisciplinary work explores how technology, play, and human experience connect and influence one another. Flanagan is known for her “critical play” approach which reveals hidden biases in technology through interactive artworks and thought-provoking installations. Her work is featured in numerous international venues, and transforms ordinary tools into extraordinary sites of exploration.

As Flanagan states herself: "Email, search engines, hard drives, virtual worlds, games — I unpack these everyday tools in my practice and manifest different models of perception and significances".
