The Microbiology Society based in central London and currently working remotely is looking for a Digital Engagement Officer to join their team. The post-holder will support the Society’s strategy by producing digital content to help maximise our impact online, particularly in supporting communications around our packed programme of scientific events in 2022, including our Annual Conference and Focused Meetings, which provide opportunities for scientists (members and non-members) to publicly present and discuss their research. This is a fixed term contract, until December 2022 and the salary is £26,000–£29,000.
This role has day-to-day responsibility for updating and editing the website, intranet, associated sites, social media channels and marketing emails to support our aim to advance understanding of microbiology and champion the contribution made by microbiology, our members and their work in addressing global challenges.
About the Society
The Microbiology Society is a membership charity for scientists interested in microbes, their effects and their practical uses. It is one of the largest microbiology societies in Europe with a worldwide membership based in universities, industry, hospitals, research institutes and schools.
The Society’s role is to help unlock and harness the potential of that knowledge. This is achieved by bringing together and empowering communities that shape the future of microbiology while generating public benefit by fostering communication both among communities of microbiologists and between microbiologists and other communities who can translate that knowledge in useful ways.
Because of the diverse range of challenges and opportunities our members encounter, the Society works in a variety of modes. In some circumstances, it is a leader, in others it works in partnership with like-minded scientific organisations, and in others by convening different communities.
The closing date for applications is 28 September 2021.
