Every year, the European Space Agency (ESA) organises a training workshop for teachers in association with the Galileo Teacher Training Program (GTTP). Space Awareness project will be coorganising this year's five day workshop in space and education. The event will be held in Leiden, the Netherlands, from 18 to 22 October 2016. The 2016 the workshop participants will be invited to discover best practices and innovative uses of astronomy and space sciences for education, both in the formal and informal education systems. There will be room for exchanging practices, sharing ideas and resources that have been developed and implemented by Space Awareness, GTTP, ESA education, and their partners worldwide.

The workshop will address: the use of inspirational education material; the introduction of space related careers from a young age; and the evaluation of the impact of exposing children to motivational astronomy activities. Participants will also find out more about ESA Education activities, as well as the latest news from ESA space science and astronomy missions. There will be keynote speakers, presentations, discussions, and practical workshops.The event is open to primary and secondary school teachers, educators, science communication professionals, and policy makers. The registration is free of charge and a reduced number of grants to cover travel costs are available.
