Are you engaging audiences with science and technology? Share your experiences as we connect in-person in June 2022!
The Ecsite Conference offers an intense mix of intellectual stimulation, purposeful and creative sessions and inspiring human encounters. An annual professional development opportunity: sharpen your critical mind,
recharge your batteries, harvest contacts and tools, make business and let off steam on the dance floor. After two years of editions held solely online, we want to rekindle the face-to-face connections that the Conference always sustained.
The 2022 edition will take place in Heilbronn, Germany on 2-4 June 2022 (with pre-Conference workshops on 1 June). It will be hosted by experimenta and we're delighted to share with you that it will take place as an outdoor camp, complete with tents and even a lookout tower!
A bottom-up process
The programme of the Ecsite Conference is a bottom-up process: professionals working together to shape and deliver learning experiences for their peers.
Anyone engaging audiences with science and technology is now invited to suggest session ideas.
The call ends on 2 November, 23.59 CET. All session ideas will then be evaluated and selected by the Conference Programme Committee, whose members are science engagement experts and representatives of Conference hosts. You can check out our handy resource guide on how to submit a successful proposal.

In depth sessions
A new type of session for 2022, our 'In depth' slots will explore “bigger than us” issues: major trends or topics that have a strong impact on our professional field. These can be new issues (e.g. emerging technologies), or long-lasting challenges that our community needs to keep addressing;(e.g. climate change, post-pandemic learnings). These sessions allow for deeper discussion or more concrete learning and will have two session slots (2x 75 minutes, with a break in between). We will accept a very small number of these sessions so make sure yours is extra relevant and uses a mix of methods to engage participants.
Some useful tools
Use the Conference forum or the Ecsite app to connect with others. If you're new to the Conference: browse the "bumblebees" on the app, who can help connect you with others, which is especially useful if you don't know where to begin. We have also created a useful resource with tips and tricks for a winning session proposal, including areas for consideration and successful session formats.
Perhaps you haven't quite worked out a full session proposal but you'd definitely like to speak at the Conference. Create a post on the Conference forum and we'll also share your request on our social media channels.
You can also join one of our free webinar sessions for helpful tips and advice from Ecsite's Wiktor Gajewski and members of the ACPC, or take a look at this handy guide.
