Ecsite and 18 of its members have just started working on 2 new H2020 projects, SISCODE and SySTEM 2020. Both projects are from the Science with and for Society work programme of the European Commission and are research oriented. Their research will focus on Co-creation (SISCODE) and on science learning outside the classroom (SySTEM 2020).
Coordinated by The Politecnico di Milano, SISCODE started at the begining of the month with its Kick-off meeting. The project aims at understanding the co-creation phenomenon that is flourishing in Europe (in science centres, fab labs, living labs, social innovations, smart cities, communities and regions) and to analyse the context and conditions that support its effective introduction, scalability and replication. Eventually, this will help bridge the gap between the process of co-constructing policies and their implementation. Four members of Ecsite will be playing a key role by leading 4 of the co-creation labs, where real life tests will be performed.
SySTEM 2020 is coordinated by one of our members, Science Gallery Dublin. The project will focus on science learning outside the classroom, mapping the field across Europe and evaluating a number of transdisciplinary programmes to design best principles for educators. Ecsite will lead on communication, dissemination and exploitation of the research outcomes. 14 Ecsite members will play an important role working across the different parts of the project. The project's kick-off meeting will take place at the end of the month in Dublin (Ireland).
