Discover yesterday’s Storify summary (see pdf file attached), looking back on the first of three main conference days. Newcomers started early with a networking breakfast, before joining all other attendees at the Opening event, whose speakers included the Austrian President Heinz Fischer, who officially opened the conference with a chain reaction.
The conference’s Business Bistro opened its doors for the morning coffee break. For the rest of the day, participants were able to pick and choose between ten parallel session strands: dioramas, pre-school making, smart objects, co-creation, Children's Universities and many more were discussed and debated…
In the evening everyone re-convened for the Gala Ball, held at a the prestigious Stefaniensaal. The winners of the 2016 Mariano Ecsite Award were announced there. The Jury nominated a Highly commended project:International Centre for Life, Newcastle, United Kingdom - for their partnership built with the Northumbria University. The winner is Tekniska museet (National Museum of Science & Technology), Stockholm, Sweden. Tekniska Museet won the award for the partnership undertaken with artist Håkan Lidbo on the interactive exhibit “Make Music with Your Whole Body”, co-created with children and taking into account the needs of physically impaired visitors. The exhibit is part of MegaMind, a new exhibition space dedicated to creativity.
