The new Research Topic aims to explore how science communication contributes to the definition of problems and the formulation of solutions in conjunction with those communities most affected. Original research, review articles, perspectives and case studies which address themes within science communication related contexts are welcomed.
Some of these themes are:

• Science as a ‘public good’

• The influence of privilege, including economic interests, on problem identification, awareness, response and recovery

• Combating misinformation and miscommunication or effective science communication

• Impacts of inequalities based on gender, race, socio-economic status and the implications for problem solving

Hosted by Frontiers in Communication, the published articles could appear in either Science and Environmental Communication or Disaster Communication sections.
