Ecsite is currently involved on the preparation of a project proposal on Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) in Synthetic Biology.
We are looking for a maximum of 8 science centres/museums who will join the proposal as Third Parties, under the responsibility of Ecsite. Their role in the project will be to learn about current research but also ethical and policy making aspects in the field of Synthetic Biology, share knowledge with other science communication practitioners, as well as develop and run new activities in the field aimed at engaging different publics.
The budget available per science centre is maximum 25.000 euros. Centres that are interested in taking part must: - Be active Ecsite members who have paid their membership fees - Prepare a proposal for their activity within the project, according to the guidelines specified in the attached document.
Proposals coming from Ecsite members will be evaluated by the Ecsite office and the proposal coordinator according to task organisation, budget requested and relevance to the project.
The following countries are encouraged to apply because of their relevance to project objectives: Portugal, Spain, Ireland, Sweden, Poland, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Slovenia, Greece. However, applications from all countries will be considered.

The new project proposal is taking shape in the framework of the current FP7-SCIENCE-IN-SOCIETY-2012-1 call. The proposal is within Activity 5.1.2 “Broader engagement to anticipate and clarify political, societal and ethical iddues – SiS.2012.1.2-1: Mobilisation and Mutual Learning (MML) Action Plans: mainstreaming SiS actions in research (Coordination and Support Actions (Supporting Actions).

All interested members can send their proposals as far as they can guarantee at least one representative with a good level of English that can represent them at meetings, working groups etc. and interact with the rest of the team.
