Last month, a crowd of more than 150 academics and professionals involved in higher education gathered in Barcelona to explore and discuss the obstacles, advancements, strategies, and the best practice to teaching RRI at the HEI. The first full-day HEIRRI conference revealed many interesting perspectives and angles on how to anchor RRI in academia. Furthermore, a series of panels saw multiple presentations from all corners of Europe and beyond, covering not only the best practice but also a gradual introduction and proliferation of RRI into the world of academia.
Participants discussed some of the road blocks and opposition they encountered but also the success stories full of inspiration and encouragement. The audience was also graced by two prominent key note speaches, one delivered by Jacqueline Broerse (UV Athena Institute Amsterdam) and the other by John Goddard (Newcastle University).
Stay tuned for a book of abstracts which will be available soon! In the meanwhile, you are invited to learn more about the conference or simply reminisce and reflect on the event by reading the attached press release and browsing the Flickr photo album.
