Hüttinger Interactive Exhibitions 10 November 2016

In October 2008, we were awarded the contract to conceptualize, design and manufacture some twenty portable, interactive exhibits comprising graphics panels and cases – so-called Science Kits – on the topic of Life and Health in all its aspects for Glasgow Science Centre's BodyWorks on Tour programme. These Science Kits are in use since April 2009.

NorthernLight Design 7 November 2016

One Planet, world’s first exhibition about the 17 global Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations opened at the Museon. Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations wrote a special video message for the opening of the exhibition, which was developed and designed by NorthernLight.

Malta's first science centre

Esplora, Malta’s first interactive Science Centre officially opened on the 28th of October. NorthernLight and Bruns have been responsible for designing and building the Universe exhibition and the ground floor of the Main Exhibition Building, featuring over 100 interactive exhibits.The science centre is located in the former naval hospital site; an impressive building at a beautiful location, overlooking the historic capital city of Valletta.

Back in October 2010 we were awarded the contract for building and installing the Being Human gallery at TELUS Spark in Calgary. More than 50 interactive exhibits for exploring what it means to be a human were built, supplied and installed in the exhibition rooms within 8 months. Using science, art and personal stories, ways and means are shown to explore who people really are. Calgary’s brand-new science Centre TELUS Spark was opened to the public on October 29, 2011.

In January 2016 we were contracted to conceptualize, design and build the new Discovery Place at The Scientific Center of Kuwait. On a floor space of 754 sqm there are now some 50 new interactives theming Science of Food & Sports, Basic Physics, Perception & Thinking, Bubbles, Genetics and a new toddler‘s area.
In addition large scale outdoor exhibits were installed at the bay side. After nine months work the new Discovery Place was then inaugurated on October 18, 2016.

The Dutch Sound and Vision museum has opened ‘Let’s Youtube’, the first exhibition about YouTube in the world. The highly interactive exhibition, designed and developed by NorthernLight, enables visitors to experience the impact YouTube has on their lives.

Heureka, the Finnish Science Centre 11 October 2016

Heureka, the Finnish Science Centre will act as a venue for pre-event of the Slush Science, bringing interesting research in the middle of bustling start-up scene in Helsinki in November. Partnering with Slush and Kaskas Media in this event is part of Heureka’s ambition to act as a platform where science- and technology-oriented people and organisations can meet and interact together.

NorthernLight Design 10 October 2016

NorthernLight designed all exhibitions for the 2000 m2 interactive energy science centre in Shenzhen, China. It tells the story of energy throughout history and around the world. If focusses on global issues and developments, as well as local energy supply in the multi million inhabitants city of Shenzhen. The spectacular entrance of the centre is a dome projection that immerses visitors into the history of planet Earth from an energy point of view. In the following thematic areas, some 100 interactive exhibits lets visitor s experience the story of energy in past and present.

Linda Conlon

Linda Conlon, chief executive of the International Centre for Life, Newcastle, has issued a rallying call to science centres across the world, warning them to engage with refugees and migrants – or risk rendering themselves obsolete.

Linda, who is chair of the Association of Science and Technology Centres (ASTC), the international body that represents science centres globally, delivered the controversial address at the opening of their annual conference in Tampa, Florida on Saturday 24 September.
